All members and prospective new members are invited to come out to Snow Valley on Tuesday morning, February 7, 2012, to welcome new members to the Club. This is an
opportunity for new members to meet other members. Lifts open at 9:30 am.
We’ll break for coffee and goodies at 10:45 AM upstairs in the Lodge.

CPR Training

The Executive is willing to organize a CPR training session if
there is a sufficient number of members who are interested in attending.
One of the possible organizations providing CPR training offers

CPR Level A class with a cost of $65 for a 4-hour session. Level A includes training in adult/child CPR, 2 rescuer, AED (Automated External
Defibrillator), choking.

CPR Level C class with a cost of $85 for a 6-hour session. Level C includes training in adult/child/infant CPR, AED, choking.

Participants would pay the cost of the training session.

Snow Valley is open. We welcome winter on Tuesday, November 22. Come out, check your equipment, welcome new members and visit with old friends.

Lifts open at 9:30 am.
Demo skis (9:30 am – noon)
Buy your tickets for the Club’s Fall dinner (9:30 am – noon)
Coffee is at 10:30 am.
Stay for Snow Valley’s lunch special, only $5.99 (+GST).
Participate in activities organized by Snow Valley. Be sure to register for activities in the upper lodge. Look for the Welcome to Winter display.
Guest Services will open at 9:00 am.
purchase your lift pass or season pass ($65 + GST).
register for on-hill ski programs at Guest Services: Carving, Ski Improvement, Syncro Skiing, or Racing.
Snow Rider Shop will be open from 9:30 am to 9:00 pm.
browse through the latest in ski and snowboard accessories in the shop.

Membership Renewal

The new membership year begins November 1. Planning for the 2011-12 year has been underway and the year promises to be full and exciting. The membership fee of $25 ($20 for those 80 and older as of December 31, 2011) will extend your membership to October 31, 2012. Membership fees will be waived for those members 80 or older who have
been members continuously for the previous 5 years. (For the 2011-12 year, the member must have been a member every year since the 2006-07 membership year inclusive.) Members still submit an Application for Membership.

Club Registration and Information Session

The Club will be holding a Registration and Information Session on Wednesday, October 26, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Lodge at Snow Valley. Information about the activities planned for the coming winter season will be available. These activities include

• 2011-12 ski tours.
• on-hill ski programs at Snow Valley.
This evening will also provide an opportunity for you to
• pick up your 2011-12 membership card.
• purchase your Fall Dinner tickets.
• purchase your season pass for Snow Valley. The Snow Valley season pass, $65 + GST, gives you discounts on accommodation and lift passes at other ski resorts. Bring your ski friends with you. After seeing the plans for Club activities for the winter, they will want to join
us!

2011 Golf Get-together – September 14

The third annual RMSSC Golf Get-together will be held at Montgomery Glen Golf Club, Wetaskiwin, on Wednesday, September 14. For an entry fee of $80, all golfers will be treated to pre-game coffee and muffins, 18 holes of golf (Texas scramble), shared power cart, steak supper, and prizes guaranteed for each participant. Tee-off is at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start. As always, all RMSSC members and friends are welcome. More information, including entry form and directions to the course, is attached. Entry forms are also be available at the regular Monday golf outings.

AGM 2011

The Annual General Meeting of the Rocky Mountain Seniors Ski Club was held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, at the Snow Valley Ski Club from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

The following were elected to the Board:

Vice President………..Brian McClelland

Public Relations………Carl Ulrich

Social………………….Susan Hall

Tours………………….Bill and Pat Campbell

Secretary………………Norma Kabaroff

Following the AGM, there was a 30 minute meeting for members who intend to bike this summer. Responsibilities of bikers, biking etiquette, and safety concerns were addressed. Members were also encouraged to step forward and become group leaders as we are trying to keep the group sizes to 15 or less.

Alberta 55+ Winter Games

Although not an official Rocky Mountain Seniors Ski Club function, enough of our members participated in the alpine portion of the games, either as racers, volunteers or spectators, that it was decided to post pictures of the races on this website.
