Sunshine Dec 4 – 7, 2011

Sunshine Village hosted our first trip of the year from December 4th thru December 7th. Thirty-six hale and hearty participants enjoying a pleasant bus ride down. I am certain that this tour set a record. We were so fortunate to have 13 new members on our trip.
They were Terry & Micheline Demkiw, Suzanne Lavalee & Doug Dowell, Helena & George
Fitzsimmons, Kevin & Lorraine Forbes, Peter Willot & Lise Maissoneuve, Bill & Barb Winship, and John Young.

The bus, scheduled for loading at 9:15, was on the highway at 9:23. We had a brief stretch and lunch stop in Red Deer and arrived at the Sunshine Gondola base in the early afternoon. We were met by an energetic unloading crew and were soon on the gondola (with our knapsacks on our backs). Sunday evening we relaxed in the Chimney Corner with nachos and great camaraderie.
Monday greeted us with good weather. The temperature was -8C and the skies cleared as the day progressed. Our group dinner, the Western buffet, held in Eagles Nest was a great success and very scrumptious.

Tuesday was a beautiful day with the temperature at 0 C, lots of sunshine with occasional wind gusts in some areas. The snow was good but it was necessary to side step some loose rocks on some of the steeper slopes.
Wednesday was another day of skiing fun. Unfortunately, Goats Eye was not quite ready to open.

Many did the ski-out which was in great shape. We departing at about 3:30 pm on a Brewster’s Bus. We stopped at Cross Iron Mills food court for a light dinner arriving home at 9:00 pm. All members of the tour were happily tired.
Another big thank you to all who joined us on this trip.
