Update from the City of Edmonton:
Below is an important update on matters related to the COVID-19 virus in Edmonton. The Government of Alberta has made some significant public health decisions that affect programming in our facilities.
The government announced a two-week ban on group fitness programs, team sports, and performance-based creative classes. In response, the following changes to programming will be in effect between November 13 and November 27:
What's Cancelled:
- Aquatics
- Public swim
- Lazy river
- Aquafit
- Fitness Centres
- Group bookings
- Small group personal training
- Court bookings (sports with a net)
- No squash or racquetball
- No basketball or soccer
- Arts Programs
- Dance and theatre classes
- Booking/Rentals
- No social bookings (as previous)
- Booking capacity remains limited to 25% of regular capacity up to 50 people for non-sport bookings (ex. tutoring)
- Sport groups (practice, training, competition)
- The Orange Hub
- Cancel Performance activities - dancing, singing, etc
What’s permitted:
- Fitness Centres
- Individual access
- Personal training
- Court bookings (sports with a net)
- Tennis, pickleball, badminton (for cohorts of two)
- Aquatics
- Lane swimming
- Hot tubs
- Swimming lessons
- Instructor and aquatic certification courses
- Art Programs
- Painting, photography, writing, knitting, clay, pottery, crochet, cake decorating, ukulele, guitar and hand drumming classes
